Our farm

You have the choice between one double room (breakfast included) and the apartment (please ask for breakfast, if you don't want to make your own).

Our farmhouse was built in the year 1960. With the upcoming tourism in 1962 we decided to rent some of our rooms to visitors. Back then our parents Adam and Anna Rettensteiner took care of the few guests, mostly visitors from Germany. There were 5 rooms equipped with a sink, the restroom was in the corridor and we had only one bathroom for the guests (which was also used by our whole family). No wonder there was always a lack of hot water. But nevertheless most of the guests enjoyed their stay at the Astlehen farm and many friendships were made. Our very first guests, their children and grandchildren are still regular guests at Astlehen.

Things have changed since then. Our visitors come from far away nowadays. A Room without bathroom is not up to date anymore, we have a ski boot dryer, Satellite-TV, WiFi and all in all it is just more comfortable at the farm.

The farmhouse parlor

You can use our traditional living room whenever you want. Breakfast will be served here. We offer rolls, homemade bread and marmalade, regional honey, fresh milk and cheese from our dairy in "Salzburger Land". You get ham and different type of sausages, a boiled egg from our chickens and one hot beverage. You have the choice between coffee, tea, cacao and hot milk.

You can use the room for chatting, reading, watching TV, to enjoy a small snack or dinner. There are toys for the kids and on request we serve lemonade, water, beer, whine or a typical Austrian "schnaps".

Products

Ask about our homemade products. Depending on the season and our own consumption we offer homemade juice, tea, marmalade, schnaps (for drinking or taking as medicine), pumpkin seed oil, calendula ointment, milk, eggs, homemade bread and smoked bacon. The cabinet on the second floor will give an overview of our current range of products.

Around the farm

There is a children's playground equipped with a slide, a sandbox and swings in front of the house. Plain fields are rare in the mountains. Nevertheless we can offer a small flat area with table, bench and chairs for enjoying the sun. Furthermore we have a little petting zoo with rabbits, goats, and a small chicken family in it. And of course we have cats on our farm. You can visit our ponds at the forest edge, a nice place for kids with a tiny house on it and a perfect place for having a picnic on hot summer days.

In winter our steep fields are much more attractive than in summer. They are perfectly made for riding bobsled, building ramps and snowmen. If your children like to visit or feed the animals don't forget to bring some old clothes a cap and rubber boots with you.
